White fillings or composite fillings

You want to fix cavities in your teeth. White fillings or composite fillings will be a great replacement, which mimics the natural look of tooth structure.

White fillings or composite fillings are used for tooth reconstruction or for filling a cavity after removing caries. When installing a composite filling, there is no need to grind the healthy part of the tooth, so tooth damage is minimized. The binding strength of composite fillings is higher than the strength of the tooth itself, which prevents tooth cracking.

White fillings or composite fillings and their function

White, also known as aesthetic fillings, are dental fillings that restore and mimic the natural appearance of tooth structure. In addition to restoring cracked or decayed teeth, white fillings can be used for cosmetic purposes to change the size, color, or shape of the tooth. They are particularly useful in closing gaps between teeth, repairing cracked teeth, and giving a prettier and smoother look to the tooth. Considering that amalgam fillings are becoming increasingly unacceptable, for many reasons, white fillings or composite fillings are increasingly in use.

Advantages of white fillings or composite fillings

  • they are similar to the natural color and appearance of teeth,
  • they chemically bind to the tooth structure and do not require the insertion of grooves or wedges into the healthy tooth structure to be mechanically maintained,
  • by joining white fillings to the tooth, 85-95% of the original tooth strength is returned,
  • they completely harden in a few seconds,
  • the potential tooth sensitivity is minimal and short,
  • they can be used both on the front and back of the tooth without affecting aesthetics,
  • in case they get damaged, they can be repaired

Composite fillings and inlays are similar in that they are types of aesthetic fillings, but they differ in the type of material they are made of and the way they are made. White fillings or composite fillings are made directly, in the office and are the most common dental procedure, while inlay fillings are made of ceramics in the laboratory.

Aesthetically and functionally, white fillings, or composite fillings, are considered the most acceptable because of modern aesthetic materials that have enabled adaptation to the tooth and color matching with the tooth. What is certain is that white fillings or composite fillings are of better quality and healthier, because their production does not use strong materials, which can jeopardize health in any way.
