Implant Prosthodontics

Implant prosthodontics is a part of dental prosthodontics that involves fixed prosthetic work that is attached to previously placed implants. It also includes removable prosthetic work in which implants serve as supports and stabilizers. All of this aims to replace missing teeth while maintaining necessary chewing function and adequate aesthetics. Implant solutions can be described as modern prostheses supported by implants, lying halfway between fixed and removable prosthetic work.

Implant prosthodontics, or prosthetics on implants, is popular due to its stability and comfort. Conventional dentures never fit as well as prostheses supported by implants.

Implant prosthodontics includes the fabrication of individual abutments, different types of crowns and bridges for individual abutments, crowns and bridges with abutments, hybrid bridges on implants, and ball-retained dentures on implants. While the health of remaining teeth and gums is crucial for successful implantation, the condition of the patient's jawbone is the most important factor for implants. These prosthetic solutions have been proven to have positive effects on jawbone health, providing stability and a natural feeling during speech and chewing. They can last from a minimum of 5 to 15 years and even a lifetime with proper maintenance. However, these solutions are generally more expensive compared to conventional prosthodontics, the implantation process is more demanding and invasive for the patient, and the recovery period lasts from 3 to 6 months.
