Dental prostheses

Dental prostheses are a solution for cases of larger tooth loss or complete edentulism, when it is not possible to replace lost teeth in any other way. The loss of natural teeth is not a rare occurrence, but regardless of the reason that led to this condition, most people find it hard to accept. Tooth loss causes numerous health problems, and also disrupts our appearance and beautiful smile. The branch of dentistry related to the replacement of lost teeth and soft tissue parts, as well as the aesthetic correction of existing teeth, is called prosthodontics.

Dental prostheses are a solution in cases of multiple lost teeth or edentulism, as well as in atrophied dental ridges, and represent a more financially viable and faster solution for many patients. However, although today's prostheses look natural and are very comfortable, it takes some time to get used to them. They are most often made of acrylic in the color of the gingiva and resin, and can solve all aesthetic dilemmas of patients. The installation of a prosthesis is also recommended in case of dental bone decay, speech or food chewing problems, gum recession problems, and similar. The dentist assesses the patient's oral condition and determines whether there is a need for a dental prosthesis because not every patient is suitable for its installation.

Dental prostheses belong to the group of mobile prosthetic works because they are removed and returned to the mouth as needed. The process of their manufacture begins by taking a jaw imprint. This imprint is the basis for making a prosthesis in the dental laboratory. It is shaped so that the base of the upper prosthesis covers the palate, and the lower part is horseshoe-shaped. The main advantage of dental prostheses is that they can be very easily removed for maintaining oral hygiene. During the manufacture, the patient tries the prosthesis to make sure it fits him completely and if necessary, corrections and modifications are made. It is important to point out that patients may feel slight pain or discomfort in the first few days after the placement of the prosthesis, but if this feeling continues, do not fix the prosthesis yourself, but immediately contact your dentist. In our clinic, we provide all information and advice on dental prostheses and carefully assess your dental situation in order to come to the right solution together.
