Composite laminates

Composite shells are a cheaper and faster solution, but simply, their effect is much lower. They do not have that naturalness and their mechanical properties are much weaker. Damage and discoloration occur very quickly, even complete chipping of the composite veneer. They are made from the material from which white fillings are made, which is why damage occurs very often.

Composite shells (composite veneers) belong to the group of direct restorations, which means that they are made in one visit directly on the teeth, they can even be placed in just one visit to DOC Bandić on the entire row of teeth in both jaws. During the procedure, the patient is allowed to request corrections during placement until the desired effect is achieved.

Less damage to your teeth with composite crowns

Composite veneers give you a new exciting smile. The lifespan of composite veneers, with good oral and dental hygiene, is estimated at 6 to 8 years. The main reason why patients opt for ceramic shells instead of ceramic crowns is that for veneers/shells, teeth are less ground and only the outer surface of the teeth is damaged.

Ceramic veneers are the best aesthetic solution for improving the appearance of teeth. The material from which the veneers are made does not differ at all from the natural appearance of teeth, while veneers do not increase the thickness of teeth, and their color is fully adapted to the natural color of teeth. Modern veneers let light through and ensure a natural look of the teeth, so there is no danger of unnatural, overly shiny, and whitened tooth appearance.

Lifespan of composite shells

Composite shells/veneers are a type of construction that is not permanent in terms of aesthetics and shape, needs to be occasionally repaired, and can be very easily removed, ceramic veneers are one of the permanent procedures. Only with ceramic veneers can a change in length and shape of the teeth be made to such an extent that a perfect smile is achieved. The ceramic veneer does not wear out, so it will look the same even after several years, while choosing the color can achieve an absolutely natural look.

Ideal patients for veneer installation have all their teeth, that is, they do not have crowns. In case a tooth is missing, a crown must be made, and then a bridge on the tooth adjacent to the one on which veneers will be placed. A dental veneer cannot be placed on a tooth previously ground for a crown. In practice, a combination of shells and crowns is common. Of course, a detailed examination determines whether veneers are the right choice for the patient, with special attention paid to oral health, especially gum and jaw health. If a patient has problems like painful gums, it must be remedied first, and then proceed with the veneer installation.
